Cox Media Group Seattle Names Greg Bilte as New VP and General Manager for KIRO 7

Tuesday, November 08, 2016 — Cox Media Group (CMG) Seattle has named Greg Bilte as its new Vice President and General Manager for KIRO 7, effective Dec. 5. Bilte succeeds Jay O’Connor, who announced this summer that he is leaving the company.

“Greg is a proven leader, and I’m thrilled that we have such phenomenal internal talent like Greg to step into this critical leadership position in Seattle,” said CMG’s Executive VP of Television Jane Williams. “I know he will build upon the momentum that the KIRO team has created over the last several years to super serve the Seattle community with news, weather, entertainment and valuable business opportunities.” 

Previously, Bilte was VP and GM for CMG Tulsa’s Fox 23 News (KOKI-TV) and My Tulsa 41 (KMYT-TV) since March 2013. While in Tulsa, Bilte, who is passionate about developing and recruiting talent, and his team achieved many successes, including growing the stations’ news market share by 26 percent while adding 15 hours of news per week. 

Bilte, who is returning to Washington State, began his accomplished broadcasting career in 1979 as a Business Development Account Executive for KXLY in Spokane and later was an Account Executive with TeleRep. His career also includes serving as National Sales Manager at KTTV in Los Angeles and General Sales Manager at both CMG’s previously-owned KTVU and KICU stations in the San Francisco Bay Area. 

“I’m thrilled that I have an opportunity to return to the Pacific Northwest,” said Bilte. “My 25 years at Cox has prepared me to lead KIRO, a great television station that has a long history of serving the community.” 

Bilte is a native of Northern Idaho and graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in Radio and Television.
