ATLANTA, Aug. 16, 2010 - For the first time in nearly 90 years on the air, News/Talk 750 WSB AM today is making an historic change in its operations by adding a 24-hour simulcast on FM radio at 95.5 FM.
"WSB 750 AM has one of the strongest signals in the country powering its award-winning news, weather, traffic and talk format," said Dan Kearney, Vice President of Cox Media Group's Atlanta radio operations. "We are anticipating significant ratings growth by simulcasting WSB on FM. Previous simulcasts of this nature across the country have lead to 15 - 200 percent increases."
WSB's News/Talk format will replace 95-5 The BEAT which is a rhythmic contemporary hit radio format serving 18-34 year old adults in the Atlanta area. The BEAT - with music from artists like Jay Sean, Jay-z, Rihanna, Kanye West, T.I., Lil Jon and Lady Gaga - will still be available online at www.955thebeat.com and on HD2 radio.
"The decision to simulcast our 24-hour news/talk format on FM will offer unique radio content to a wider listening audience" Kearney added. "Nearly half of Atlanta's radio audience has never visited the AM dial. The simulcast of WSB on FM allows us to penetrate twice the previously available listening audience for our advertisers."
In addition to WSB, Cox Media Group offers its Atlanta listeners three other FM radio stations WSB-FM (B98.5FM), the most listened-to adult contemporary station in Atlanta; WSRV-FM (97.1 The River), which airs classic hits, and urban adult contemporary station WALR-FM (Kiss 104.1 FM).
"We want to thank all of our 95-5 The BEAT fans and advertisers for supporting the station over the years, and we hope all of you will continue to listen to the station in a music-only format on HD radio at 97.1 HD2 and online at www.955thebeat.com while at home or at work," said Kearney.
AM 750 and NOW 95.5FM News/Talk WSB and wsbradio.com, Atlanta's most dominant and influential radio brand, reaches nearly 1,000,000 quality listeners every week. AM 750 and NOW 95.5FM News/Talk WSB deliver results if you're looking for homeowners, listeners with disposable income, or business to business opportunities. AM 750 and NOW 95.5FM News/Talk WSB is home to talk show hosts Neal Boortz, Clark Howard, and Sean Hannity. AM 750 and NOW 95.5FM News/Talk WSB is the station Atlanta depends on for News, Weather and Traffic.
