Anchor John Bachman Joins CBS47 And FOX30 Action News

JACKSONVILLE FL – July 16, 2014 – Jim Zerwekh, vice president and general manager of Cox Media Group (CMG) Jacksonville TV’s WAWS/WTEV in Jacksonville, announced today that John Bachman will join the FOX30 and CBS47 Action News team early this fall.

Bachman comes to Action News from CMG’s Channel 2 WSB-TV in Atlanta, where he has been the co-anchor of the 4 p.m. newscast since 2011.  

 

“We were looking for a very special person to fill the anchor role at WAWS/WTEV,” said Jim Zerwekh, vice president and general manager for WAWS/WTEV.

“I’m happy that our news room is getting a journalist of John’s caliber. His commitment to journalistic excellence and knowledge of the inner-workings of a newsroom, are qualities that will benefit our stations and the Jacksonville community.”

Bachman grew up in a newsroom where his father has been an anchor for more than 30years.

He graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., and then began his television news career as a reporter in Sioux Falls, S.D. He has also worked in Raleigh, N.C. Bachman will be moving to Jacksonville with his wife and three daughters.
