Atlanta’s Convoy of Care to Benefit Those Affected by Hurricane Harvey

ATLANTA– Sept. 8, 2017 – Cox Media Group (CMG) Atlanta’s Radio stations, News 95.5 and AM750 WSB (WSB-AM), B98.5 (WSB-FM), 97.1 The River (WSRV), and KISS 104.1 (WALR), partnered with WSB-TV Ch. 2 Action News and The Atlanta Journal Constitution to ask Atlanta area residents to help us collect bottled water for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Listeners, viewers and readers came out to support the Convoy of Care in force, packing 10 trucks of clean drinking water over only two days. At times, the line of vehicles waiting to drop off bottled water stretched nearly a half mile. Donations came from private citizens as well as local businesses and organizations.

Donna Hall, CMG Atlanta Radio’s VP and General Manager said, “I am astounded by the response of our listeners. The power of radio is clearly alive and well and it makes me proud to know that our four radio stations, along with our TV and print partners, can put out a call for help and fill 10 semi-trucks full of water for people in need. I’ve always known that radio works and it was affirmed again last week.”

The Convoy of Care, with trucks, drivers and labor provided by Atlanta Peach Movers and Kroger, are traveling with a law enforcement escort to deliver the approximately 500,000 bottles to those in need in Beaumont, Port Arthur and Houston, Texas.
