Cox Media Group Birmingham Promotes Two Station Leaders

BIRMINGHAM – Sept. 16, 2011 Cox Media Group (CMG) Birmingham has elevated the responsibilities of two of its station leaders, Justin Case and John Olsen.  
            Justin Case, previously program director of WZZK and WNCB, is the new operations manager for WZZK, WBPT and WZZN 973 the Zone.  Case joined CMG as program director for WZZK and WNCB in March 2004.  He has more than 30 years of broadcast experience in diverse formats and has programmed market-leading country stations including: WUSN in Chicago, Ill.; WDSY in Pittsburgh, Pa.; WYRK Buffalo, N.Y.; and WWYZ, Hartford, Conn. 

            “I appreciate the confidence in my abilities and the support Cox has demonstrated over the years,” Case said. “We have a great team in Birmingham, and I look forward to working with everyone to strengthen our brands and continue our strong revenue performance.”

            John Olsen has been appointed program director for Birmingham’s new sports station, 97.3 The Zone.  Olsen, a 22-year broadcast veteran, joined Cox in 2001and has a diverse career experience, having programmed the legendary WBAB on Long Island and championing numerous special projects for CMG like coaching the Roy Wood Jr. Show on WBHJ and doing digital content for the Birmingham cluster.   Before joining CMG, he worked previously in Birmingham at Rock 97.3, in Miami, Fla. and Ocean City, Md.
