Cox Media Group Connecticut Adds WPLR’s Chaz and AJ to 95.9 WFOX

MILFORD, CT – Sept. 19, 2011 Cox Media Group (CMG) Connecticut announced Friday that it will air “Chaz and AJ” during morning drive 5:30 a.m.-10 a.m. on 95.9 The Fox (WFOX) beginning today, Monday Sept. 19.  For the past eight years, Chaz and AJ have been heard mornings on 99.1 WPLR in New Haven.

Coming off their most successful ratings book in five years, it became clear that New Haven’s No. 1 morning show, WPLR’s Chaz and AJ, should expand to the CMG sister station in Fairfield County, WFOX.  The show, which is always a well-balanced mix of humor, politics and watercooler talk, will continue to do what they do best –local radio for New Haven, Hartford and now Fairfield County.

“This move just makes sense,” said Keith Dakin, program director for both stations. “I am extremely excited to extend the reach of Chaz and AJ to the residents of Fairfield County who have never been able to hear the show. These guys really deliver for Connecticut and I expect big things from them on WFOX..

The FOX will continue to have PD Dakin on in middays and Fairfield County legend Peter Bush will take the reigns in the afternoon. Bush has been on local Connecticut radio for over 20 years and is the perfect balance for the ride home.

“It’s great to be able to expand the Chaz and AJ brand onto another Cox station,” said Chaz. “We’re extremely excited and looking forward to bringing great radio to the listeners and great results to the advertising partners of the FOX.”

“95.9 The Fox is Stamford-Norwalk’s only FM radio station,” added CMG Connecticut’s VP and Market Manager Kristin Okesson. “We are committed to serving Fairfield County with more local content which is what Chaz and AJ do so well.  From Guilford to Greenwich this show will deliver information relevant to Fairfield County, while remaining entertaining and topical.”
