JACKSONVILLE, FL – Sept. 04, 2014 – Jim Zerwekh , vice president and general manager of Cox Media Group (CMG) Jacksonville TV announced today that on September 07, 2014 FOX30 will be changing its call letters from WAWS to WFOX-TV.
“Changing the call letters to WFOX-TV better represents FOX30 with the FOX TV network,” said Zerwekh. “FOX30 has historically and continues to be one of the top 10 performing FOX TV affiliates in the country.”
The station signed on as WAWS on February 15, 1981. It was the first independent television station to sign on in Jacksonville and on October 09, 1986 became a charter affiliate of the FOX Broadcasting Company.
