Cox Media Group Louisville Announces First Three Recipients of ‘Friends & Neighbors’ Program

LOUISVILLE – March 31, 2012 Cox Media Group (CMG) Louisville announced Friday the first three organizations that have been selected to receive $30,000 each of in-kind advertising and promotion over the second quarter of 2012 through CMG’s newly-launched Friends and Neighbors program. 

  • Indian Summer Camp – an organization that offers recreational activities for children with cancer and their families – received the April gift. (http://www.iscamp.org/
  • Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies – a facility offering physical, occupational and speech therapies to children with special needs – will receive the May gift. (http://www.kidscenterky.org/)
  •  St. George’s Community Center – providing after-school programs in Louisville’s West End neighborhoods – has been given the June gift.  (http://www.stgeorgeslouisville.episcopalky.org/)

“We are really excited about what these organizations are doing for our community and are thrilled to be able to help them with their individual missions,” CMG Louisville VP and General Manager Todd Schumacher said.

CMG announced initial plans in January to support local community organizations with its new “Friends & Neighbors” program and spent first quarter soliciting for citizens to nominate organizations that might be deemed deserving of the grant-like donation. CMG will announce third quarter recipients of gifts before July 1st.

Friends & Neighbors is still taking nominations for organizations to receive the monthly gifts. Nominations can be made at www.friendsandneighborsonline.com.
