Cox Media Group Memphis Names Omesh Somaru General Sales Manager for WHBQ-TV FOX 13

— Monday, April 03, 2017 — Cox Media Group (CMG) Memphis has named Omesh Somaru as its new General Sales Manager for WHBQ-TV FOX 13. Somaru succeeds Michelle Woods, who was recently tapped as GSM for CMG’s KIRO-TV in Seattle, Wash. In this role, Somaru is responsible for leadership and oversight of advertising sales on FOX13 WHBQ, its website, and its various mobile apps.

Somaru, who joined WHBQ in 2015 as Local Sales Manager, began his media career as an account executive at WKMG in Orlando, Fla. and then as a regional account executive for Comcast sales in Ft. Myers. He joined CMG in 2007 as an AE at WFTV in Orlando. Three years later, Somaru was promoted to Local Sales Manager at CMG Orlando’s WRDQ in Orlando. In 2013 Omesh moved out to San Francisco as the Local Sales Manager at CMG’s previously-owned KICU independent station in the San Francisco Bay Area.
