Cox Media Group Memphis TV Names Patti McGettigan as News Director for WHBQ-TV

MEMPHIS – Jan. 12, 2015 – Cox Media Group (CMG) Memphis has named award-winning broadcaster Patti McGettigan as its new News Director for WHBQ-TV FOX 13, effective Jan. 16. 

“I am thrilled to have someone of Patti’s caliber join the WHBQ team,” said CMG Memphis VP and General Manager Paul Briggs. “Patti is a proven leader and has a strong commitment to delivering an outstanding news product on all platforms. She and her team will grow WHBQ’s local news coverage and ensure that we are serving the Memphis community with the very best news product possible.”   

McGettigan spent 14 years in leadership roles at LinMedia’s WOOD TV8 in Grand Rapids, Mich., including nearly 10 years as News Director providing direction and leadership to the No. 1 station in West Michigan.  Additionally, she worked three years at LinMedia’s flagship station WISH TV News 8 as News Director, covering major events such as the Indiana State Fair Stage Collapse and Super Bowl XLVI.  McGettigan’s work earned the 2006 RTDNA Unity Award for Large Market Television Station honoring coverage of Race and Diversity.
