Cox Media Group Ohio Names Jana Collier as Editor in Chief

DAYTON – May 9, 2011 Newspaper veteran Jana Collier is Cox Media Group (CMG) Ohio’s new Editor in Chief, effective immediately.  Collier, who was formerly the Managing Editor for the Dayton Daily News, will be responsible for content of all of the CMG Ohio daily and weekly newspapers including Dayton Daily News, Springfield News-Sun, Middletown Journal and Hamilton JournalNews.  She will also oversee all content of the newspaper websites. 

Jana, a native of Texas, joined Cox Newspapers in 1988 in Waco, Texas and served in various editor positions and covered the Branch Davidian raid and fire in 1993 and the Luby’s Cafeteria massacre in 1991.

Since transferring to the Dayton Daily News in 2001 as the Features Editor, she has been promoted to Assistant Managing Editor and Deputy Managing Editor before her promotion to Managing Editor in 2007.

Jana graduated from Baylor University with a degree in business and journalism.  She is married and has two teen-aged daughters.
