TAMPA – April 24, 2012 – After 32 years of waking up listeners in Tampa Bay, “With a Ring In Their Ear,” WDUV heritage morning radio host Dick Ring has announced his retirement. His last day on the air will be this Friday, April 27.
“I’m truly a blessed man,” said Ring. “I’ve enjoyed a career spanning over five decades doing what I love. The Dove has been my home for well over 30 years of that time. Arriving at the decision to leave hasn’t been easy, but Joyce and I look forward to spending more time at our new home in North Carolina while we’re still favored with good health. Will I miss it? You bet!”
More than 30 uninterrupted years on the air in the radio industry is unique, if not unheard of. The personality stepping in to take over the reins at WDUV is another radio industry veteran, Ann Kelly, currently heard on sister-station WWRM (Magic 94-9), in Afternoon Drive. Ann’s first day on WDUV will be Monday, April 30.
“This August is my 24th anniversary with Cox Media Group (CMG) Tampa Bay, and it seems like only yesterday when I walked in the door and cracked the mic for the first time,” said Kelly. “But since my life here began waking up Tampa Bay for the first 12 ½ years, it’s a thrill to be doing it again. Leaving WWRM is bittersweet, but moving on to this exciting new opportunity to make new friends with The Dove’s listeners is an exciting new opportunity.”
Dick Ring can currently be heard locally on WDUV 105.5 The Dove in Morning Drive, Monday through Friday, 6 – 10 a.m. Ann Kelly can currently be heard locally on WWRM, Magic 94-9 in Afternoon Drive, Monday through Friday, 2– 7 p.m. Previously, she was Ann Shepherd, one-half of The Shepherd and Shepherd Morning Show on WWRM, WARM 107.3 and WARM 94.9FM.
