TAMPA – June 2, 2011 – Cox Media Group’s (CMG) radio operations in Tampa, Florida, has promoted Paul DeFazio as its new general sales manager of WDUV-FM and WPOI-FM.

“Paul’s strong leadership skills were evident from his very first day with Cox,” said Wendi Power, Vice President General Manager.  “His extensive market and management experience, combined with his great relationships in the Tampa advertising community, make him the perfect fit to lead the sales organizations for WDUV-FM and WPOI-FM. We are very excited to have Paul join our management team.”

With over 28 years of radio sales and management experience, DeFazio has spent the majority of his radio career in Tampa.  Three years after beginning his career in radio as an account executive with Clear Channel in Jacksonville, Fla., he transferred to Clear Channel in Tampa and shortly after, was promoted to sales manager.  In November 2010 after 26 years with Clear Channel and a year with Genesis Communications in Tampa as the vice president and market Manager, DeFazio joined CMG Tampa as a senior account manager with hopes to move into management when a position became available.

“I am very excited to join the management team at Cox Media Group Tampa,” said DeFazio.  “After many years of competing against Cox in Tampa, I am thrilled to now be working with this first-rate media organization.  I firmly believe we are well positioned to be the market leader.”
