Radio Ink Magazine Names Johnny Chiang the No. 1 Program Director in Country Music

HOUSTON – (February 13, 2018) – Johnny Chiang, Director of Operations for Cox Media Group Houston, was named No 1 Program Director in Country Radio by Radio Ink magazine. He received this prestigious award on Monday, February 5, 2017 at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, Tenn.

“I am deeply humbled by this honor, but this award belongs to the dedicated staff of 93Q,” said Johnny Chiang.  “It takes a village to run a successful radio station and we have the best villagers in the business.”

Johnny’s 28-year radio career began at KFI-AM and KOST-FM in Los Angeles, CA, then on to Houston where he programmed KHPT-FM for three years before he took the reins at KKBQ-FM.  In the 13 years as Program Director at The New 93Q, Johnny has been passionately involved with Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc., Academy of Country Music, the Country Music Association and The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

“The recognition that Johnny receives year in and year out reflects his effective leadership, solid relationships in the business, and strong knowledge of our industry and the country format,” said Mark Krieschen, CMG Houston VP and Market Manager.  “He has led KKBQ to be a consistent leader in the format, not only in Houston, Texas but across the country.”
