Friday, November 04, 2016 — Tina Commodore has been named News Director for KOKI-TV (FOX23) in Tulsa.

“Green Country news viewers have come to depend on FOX23 News as a trusted source for severe weather and breaking news coverage,” said KOKI-TV and KMYT-TV Vice President and General Manager Greg Bilte. “Tina has a proven track record as a hard-working and innovative news professional. I look forward to working with her to continue building our brand on all platforms and covering the news that matters to our viewers.”

Commodore served most recently as Managing Editor for WSB-TV in Atlanta, GA, helping lead the daily operation of the newsroom. In this role, she planned the station’s coverage of major local and national breaking news events, including the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.

Prior to serving as Managing Editor, Commodore was Manager of Coverage and Content, supervising the assignment desk and launching the station’s first major collaborative initiative with WSB-TV, Atlanta Journal Constitution, and WSB Radio. In this role, she planned the station’s coverage of President Obama’s inauguration, the Boston Marathon bombing, and the deadly tornado that struck Moore, OK.

“Tina is an exceptional, award-winning broadcast professional, and I’m thrilled that we can promote internal talent like Tina to fill this critical role,” said Jane Williams, Cox Media Group’s Executive VP of Television.

Commodore is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists, and she has an extensive background in news broadcasting. Prior to joining the CMG family in Atlanta, she served as the Assignment Manager for WBNS-10 TV in Columbus, OH before moving on to Cincinnati to become the Assignment Manager for WLWT-TV. Her experience also includes working as a Video Journalist and Tape Feed Coordinator for CNN in Atlanta, GA.

“I am tremendously grateful for this opportunity and I look forward to continuing KOKI’s genuine commitment to meeting the needs of our viewers,” says Commodore. “This is a great news town and I cannot wait to be a part of this community.”

Commodore is moving to Tulsa with her husband, Craig and teenage daughter, Amani. In her spare time, she enjoys giving back to the community through volunteer work with a variety of charitable organizations, including MedShare, Hosea Feed the Hungry, and Breast Cancer Awareness walks.
