TULSA  – Dec. 3, 2013 – Tulsa native and Award-winning journalist, Tiffany Alaniz has been named Weekend Morning Anchor for “FOX23 News This Morning”, News Director, Suzanne Nadell announced today.

Prior to joining the FOX23 News Team, Alaniz anchored the 5, 6 and 10 o’clock news for KODE-TV in Joplin, MO. Moments after one of the deadliest tornadoes in history hit Joplin in May 2011, she was out in the field reporting on the emergency response and recovery. Over the years, she continued to cover the stories of those who were affected by that storm.

Alaniz has always called the Midwest home. She grew up in Tulsa, where her parents still reside, and graduated from Jenks High School.  She earned a degree in Broadcast News Journalism from the University of Kansas. Alaniz began her broadcasting career in 1995 in Topeka, KS as a part-time reporter at KTKA. In 1997, she moved to Joplin to launch a 10 year career at KSNF. During that time, she worked as a reporter, weekend anchor, morning show and noon news anchor. She also covered Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma for Nexstar Broadcasting. Alaniz has always had a passion for news and feels honored to tell the stories of others.

Outside the newsroom, she spends time with her 5-year old daughter Whitley, family, and friends.  Alaniz also spends time volunteering, including many breast cancer charity events and fundraisers.  She’s looking forward to getting involved in the Tulsa community with her daughter.

“I am so excited to return home and join the FOX23 News Team,” Alaniz adds. “It’s been a career dream of mine to be on the air in my hometown of Tulsa.  I can’t wait to share the stories of those across Green Country.”
