SnipSnap, launched in 2012, is coupon startup solving the problem of people forgetting their paper coupons at home. It allows users to photograph and digitize the print coupons they receive in the mail, giving access to the “largest database of crowd-sourced coupons available.”
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer Mobile Coupon Study (April 2012), 84% of consumers routinely leave coupons at home. “If you’ve ever left a 20%-off coupon on the fridge, you know the pain,’ said Snip Snap Founder and CEO Ted Mann.
At the same time, Valpak has the strength of more than 30,000 local advertisers at any given time, which are also distributed and located on the Valpak app for iPhone, iPad and Android.
“Valpak has always been known for its local neighborhood offers, and the addition of the sheer force of thousands of great deals will add extra benefits for consumers,” said Michael Vivio, president of Cox Target Media, provider of Valpak.
SnipSnap has grown to almost 2 million users, who have snipped more than 30 million coupons on iPhone and Android app. In addition to allowing users to snip and redeem their own coupons, SnipSnap also works with national retailers such as Bed Bath & Beyond, Toys R Us and Party City to distribute featured coupons to its users.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Valpak,” said Mann. “While SnipSnap has always supported the ability to save local coupons, this partnership makes it possible for consumers to also discover thousands of local deals from Valpak without having to ever load up the camera.”
“Valpak is one of the most advanced, forward-thinking publishers in the coupon industry,” said Mann, “And we’re only just now beginning to scratch the surface of what we do together — both in local, and with mobile coupons in general.”
Once snipped (or saved), a user can redeem the coupon directly from the SnipSnap app and display a QR code or promo code in order to redeem at a Valpak merchant.
Some great features to the SnipSnap app include in-store reminders, expiration date alerts and follow friends (connect and share coupons with friends, family and “couponistas.” The app works at most retailers and restaurants; however it is not yet support for manufacturers’ coupons.
The app also has a Save to Wallet widget which allows users to save to either Apple Passbook or Google Wallet.
